TTC Service Changes Effective June 21, 2026

Service changes for the streetcar system were effective on June 7 in anticipation of the World Cup games starting on June 12. See:

The main set of bus and rapid transit changes will occur on June 21.

The seasonal changes are described as coming both from reduced summer demand and limits on operators to drive the service. It is not clear if this is due to a budgetary decision about staffing levels, a difficulty in recruiting new operators, or a mix of both.

Note that the spreadsheet detailing old and new service plans will be added in an update to this article.

Construction Projects

** Diversion already in place before the formal schedule change.

Diversions Beginning

20 Cliffside

Metrolinx construction on the Birchmount bridge over the Lake Shore East corridor will divert 20 Cliffside buses both ways via Birchmount Rd, Pinegrove Ave, Aylesworth Ave, and Highview Ave.

51 Leslie

The bridge across Leslie to North York General Hospital is affected by nearby construction and is only open to eastbound traffic. 51 Leslie buses will loop through the hospital southbound only.

94 Wellesley

City construction on Wellesley Street East requires 94 Wellesley buses to divert eastbound via Jarvis, Carlton and Parliament.

Diversions Ending

72 Pape & 325 Don Mills Night

The southbound diversion of 72 via Dingwall and Carlaw for Ontario Line construction will end, as will the diversion both ways of the 325 Don Mills Night Bus. Depending on the progress of Metrolinx work, these diversions might end before June 21.

Rapid Transit Changes

  • On Lines 1 and 2, the number of Service Assistance Crews will be “adjusted … due to workforce considerations”. It is not clear how this will affect service quality.
  • On Line 5 Eglinton, AM Peak service will improve to 3’47” and PM Peak to 3’56” with the addition of 2 and 1 trains respectively. A Service Assistance Crew will be added in the Late Evening to expand coverage.

Bus Service Changes

Many routes are affected by service cuts over the summer months. They arise from multiple sources:

  • “Extra trips that are scheduled to accommodate secondary school ridership will be temporarily suspended to coincide with the end of the 2025-2026 school year. These trips will be restored in September 2026.”
  • “… due to reduced demand and/or workforce availability during summer months.”

Some express routes will be completely suspended for the summer with partly offsetting improvements to local service:

  • 941 Keele Express
  • 944 Kipling South Express
  • 945 Kipling Express
  • 968 Warden Express

Service will be reduced on many routes and time periods. In the table below, the new frequency is shown in parentheses after the time period. Where the day is not specified, the change refers to weekdays.

Run As Directed Buses

Vehicle Summary

Note that there is a very substantial reduction in peak bus requirements both through reduced regular service and a lower number of “600 Run as Directed” buses.

Budgeted Hours (All Modes)

eBus Schedule Compatibility

TTC is adjusting schedules to take into account constraints of eBus operation.

Schedules at Malvern Division, Mount Dennis Division, and Wilson division will be adjusted to rebalance and re-tag AM swing runs as per Bus Maintenance requests to better balance between eBus, diesel, and artic fleets.
