TTC Service Changes Effective Sunday September 6, 2026 (Part I)

Two sets of route changes have been announced by the TTC to take effect on September 6, 2026.

This is a preliminary version of the September 6, 2026 changes. Full service change details will be published in a separate article when they are available.

Updated September 12, 2026: A map of the temporary extension of 72 Pape at the south end of the route has been added.

St. Clair West Rail Bridge Reconstruction

The rail bridge over St. Clair Avenue West between Keele Street and Old Weston Road will be rebuilt to accommodate the new St. Clair West GO station.

During this work, 512/312 St. Clair streetcars will turn back from Earlscourt Loop at Lansdowne, and a 512B shuttle bus will operate from Gunn’s Loop (west of Keele) east to Lansdowne and south to Lansdowne Station.

Night service on 340 Junction will be extended east to Oakwood Loop.

Partial Reopening of Pape Station Loop

Ontario Line construction at Pape Station has progressed to the point that a partial re-opening of the bus loop is possible. The following routes are affected:

  • 100 Flemingdon Park will now terminate at Pape Station rather than at Broadview Station.
  • 8 Broadview and 62 Mortimer will resume use of Broadview Station as their western terminus and they will no longer run south to Gerrard & Broadview.
  • 72 Pape buses will loop through the station southbound, but will continue to load on the street outside the station northbound.

25/925 Don Mills and 87 Cosburn services will continue to operate to Broadview Station.

Updated September 12, 2026:

The 72 Pape route has been extended at the south end “to operate via Don Roadway,
Lake Shore Blvd E, and Saulter St instead of Saulter St, Lake Shore Blvd E, and Bouchette St to
provide an accessible connection to the 114 Queens Quay East”.

  1. Thanks as always for this, Steve. Any idea what the indicators are, south of Broadview, to Bridgepoint?

Steve: Not quite sure what you mean. The service to Bridgepoint on routes 8 and 62 will be removed.

  2. Hi Steve
Great work as always on this blog.

I’m glad they are doing it through Symington and Dupont rather than going all the way to Queen that they did once.

Any idea till when this arrangement for 512B will happen. Any ETA on work completion?

Steve: The notice does not include an estimated completion date. I expect to see that when the detailed service change memo comes out in about a week’s time.

  3. Steve why are the 8 and 9 interlining? And why are the 69 and 117 ceasing interlining?

Steve: Your comment does not make sense. 9 Bellamy has nothing to do with 8 Broadview. As for 69 Warden South and 117 Birchmount South, I have to assume that the service levels are no longer compatible. The details will be in the service change memo which has not been issued publicly yet.

  4. Sorry about the Bridgepoint post, Steve – one of those days and had a brain cramp and forgot about the temporary extension

  5. Selfishly disappointed with the cut back of the 62. I liked not having to transfer at Broadview Station to get to Broadview and Gerrard.

I assume the 100 is being moved to Pape as it could reasonably be accomodated on one platform in the terminal unlike the 25/925. Having said that, it’s not a very reliable route, so I can see some issues with stacking.

  6. How come they’ve swapped the 25 and 100 terminals?

Steve: Likely because of platform space in the temporary Pape terminal.

  7. With the removal of south of Danforth service on the 8 and 62, the 121 gets relegated to uselessness once again. Trips in between East York and Downtown required only 1 bus transfer as opposed to taking a King streetcrawl or 2 subways along with the 8/62/87 bus. The 121 functioned as a shortcut that with the right departure cycles super sped up travel time. I think the TTC should send the 121 up to Broadview Stn(its lack of frequency allows it to share a spot with another route) to bring that connection back.

  8. Also how will the Broadview Stn layout look with the 62 and 8 returning to inside the station? Will the 62 and 8 share a space now that the 87 stops where the 8 used to stop?

Steve: TTC has not yet released the planned new layout for Broadview Station bus bays.

  9. Hey Steve, also the introduction of the 145 and the 345.

Steve: A I have said a few times already, the details of all September changes have not been released yet. I don’t know why they chose to mention only the St. Clair West and Pape Station changes in the stakeholder newsletter.

  10. Birchmount has already signed for next board’s work and indeed the 8 and 9 are interlined since Warden station bus loop will be closed.
The 69 and 117 are their own seperate crews now.
16 will be detouring southbound along Danforth Road to Mack Ave and up Warden to the station.

    Steve: Thanks for the info!

  11. So do you expect the TTC to make service increases in the September board period as outlined in the budgeted service hours for most major routes?

Steve: Careful how you read that chart. The regular hour do go up relative to summer schedules, but only to the same level as January. There is an increase in construction hours, however.

  12. I like the idea of the 72 and 100 being at the same Line 2 station given that both enter Flemingdon Park, and meet again at Don Valley Station.

  13. Steve, are you going to talk about the upcoming bus speed restrictions for operators on September 5th through the VISION system?

Apparently if you go even 1 km/hr over the limit you get reported to management…

Steve: I plan to make preliminary comments as part of the September service change article when the detailed info comes out. Meanwhile, I plan to get, if possible, an official comment from TTC management and ATU 113. I expect that this will bring no end of trouble both for routine operations and with a flood of reports that will drown management in performance reviews and grievances.

In Octber, once a month of tracking data has accumulated under the new rules, I will look at comparative speeds and performance of several major routes.

  14. Hi Steve…

Curious about this. The bridge that is being done between Old Weston Road and Keele Street on St.Clair, will St.Clair’s lanes underneath be expanded ??

Steve: No. That proposal has been dropped due to cost, so this will remain a pinch point.

  15. In your opinion do you think the 939’s will be converted back to 40 footers when their end terminal ends at STC once’s again starting November board. Can’t imagine having all those artics in STC.

    Steve: I’m waiting to see.

  16. Will warden bus loop be closed? How will service operate?

Steve: When the service memo for September comes out we will find out. It is incredibly frustrating that the TTC only published partial info about coming changes in their “stakeholder update”.

  17. Really? The infamous St Clair underpass that Rob Ford railed against incessantly for ruining traffic once it was used for streetcars, and Doug Ford chooses not to fix it during a rebuild of the bridge? If it’s not fixed now, there probably won’t be another opportunity to fix it for the next 50 years probably. And don’t pretend it’s about cost since we all know Doug Ford doesn’t care about how much things cost. Where is the outrage now? Or was the Fords’ past outrage all for show?

  18. The 8 and 9 are interlining according to the GTFS data.

Steve: Yes, I have seen the recently released GTFS files. I’m waiting for the detailed description of all September changes before writing them up.

  19. Morning Steve,

I can confirm that the Warden Station bus terminal will close on September 6th 2026 until “early 2027”.

They handed out flyers at the station this morning and from what I can tell it looks like it will be a complete disaster.

The distance between the 902/102/9/117 (Bay 1) and 16/17 (Bay 5) is three minutes according to the TTC but I can foresee an AODA complaint given the distance.

Going between the 135 and 102 for example would mean either walking straight up Warden (from the current PPUDO) or via the current pedestrian pathway to the St Clair Avenue East entrance (former PPUDO St Clair Ave entrance).

3 minutes in theory but far enough apart that someone with a mobility issue or disability would likely not be able to do it.

The 17 will be diverting Birchmount, Danforth, Mack, Warden to the station which is likely going to add 10 or so minutes to the trip times.

For those like myself who can take the 17, 16, 102, 902 or 9 to get home this is going to be a pain in the derriere.

Right now, if I miss the 17 I can walk across the bus terminal to get the 16 or 9 and head home. I could also walk a but further to get the 102 if absolutely needed.

Now, if I miss the 17 I cannot reasonably catch the 102, 9 or 902 because by the time I get there it will have left the station.

Steve: Thanks for the info. I saw your post about this on Urban Toronto too. I’m waiting for the full list of changes, including schedule details, before I publish a compendium article.

  20. The St. Clair line should have been buried in that bridge area long before this construction began, it was a big source of gridlock even before this new construction.

Steve: That would have been a huge expense just for the outer end of the line. The portals would have to be east of Old Weston Road and west of Keele Street making surface connections, including to the future GO station, challenging. The road widening was originally part of the City’s transportation plan for the area, but was cut to reduce project costs.

There are many more automobiles than streetcars; surely that means the autos are to blame for congestion and gridlock, not the occasional streetcar.

Let’s build a tunnel beneath all of St Clair and put the auto traffic there, right, Mr Premier?

  22. Is the 72 Pape map correct? I thought they were moving the loop to the Don Roadway/Saulter. This shows Saulter/Bouchette.

Steve: Yes, the loop was moved. This change was not included in the initial notice that was used for this article. I have added the updated info at the end of the article.
