Service Change Details
Recently, on Tuesday, December 17, a garbage truck struck down streetcar overhead wires on King Street West, near Spadina Avenue. Both the “504 King” and “508 Lake Shore” streetcar routes were either detouring or operating with shuttle buses while electricians were working to fix the problem.
Today, streetcar operation on these routes resumed after overhead wires were put back in place. However, the “510 Spadina” route, which has been already operating with shuttle buses since June 23, will continue to do so until March 2025. This is because of construction on the streetcar loop inside Spadina subway station.
The shuttle buses running on 510 Spadina are diverted (or even suspended) while de-icing is being carried out.
Steve: Changes are coming on January 5 to 509 Harbourfront, 511 Bathurst and 510 Spadina. Stay tuned for the wrap-up article with all the info.

The same day service was fouled up east of the Don with some sort of collision on Queen forcing all 501 and 503 streetcars to run along Gerrard between Broadview and Coxwell for several hours which predictably caused service to deteriorate to the point of uselessness with random short turns everywhere. They did not issue a service alert for this as far as I could tell.
Steve: There was an ongoing problem with discrepancies in the info on various parts of the website throughout this incident right up to the morning it cleared. It is a classic problem of split responsibility for different public info streams along with crappy website design.
