Over the past weekend, the count of approved comments on this site topped 60K! That’s all thanks to the many readers who add their two cents, and often a lot more, to the articles I write.
Sometimes we agree, sometimes not. The conversation and the additional info adds to the articles, and that’s a valuable part of this blog.
To all of you who chime in regularly or rarely, thanks for participating. It tells me that “out there” are readers who care about public transit.
Thank you!
David

2 questions. Are those express buses on the rush hour like Downtown express from Mt.Pleasant and others coming back? And was is there all night services on the Dundas route? Only streetcar route that doesn’t have it.
Steve: I think it will be a long time before the 14x routes return. They cost a fortune to operate on a per passenger basis, and existed only because of special pleadings by councillors/commissioners whose wards they served.
I don’t expect to see a “305 Dundas Night Car” as the route is paralleled by College and Queen that both have service. There has never been a Dundas night car.

a great blog full of insights, both on the politics and also the technical and financial. The kind of blog that reminds us what the web was supposed to be about : thoughtful and considered discussions by lay experts. Wish we had a Steve Monro in Ottawa where our own system is in serious decline.

Next service changes they’re introducing the Dundas night car.
Steve: Ah yes. What to do when the fleet is bigger than the available carhouse space. Now if only they would run more service during the daytime.

Would like to continue making comments. However, I have to be careful not to make typos. Still trying to figure out how to edit comments I made after I notice a misstake eye made accidenturely.
Steve: Ho Ho Ho! There is no comment edit function. I tend to clean up obvious typos. If you want me to correct something, just leave another comment and I will merge them.

Steve, in total, how many articles have you written? It must be in the many thousands! And, how many hours have you spent over the years writing articles and editing comments? It must be in the many, many thousands, also! A labour of love, I am sure. Hopefully, it all has made a big difference for the public good. Thank you, Steve, for what you do!
Steve: Just under 3,000 articles. Hours? Who knows? And you’re welcome!

I am truly grateful for all you’ve done. Your work has me so much better informed on transit issues that just about anyone I know. Which is kind of a curse, since they always want to draw lines on maps with their crayons and tell me how insightful Reece Martin is. *bangs head on wall*
Still, I like understanding just how complicated a beast transit is for this city because, sadly, the people whose job it actually is seem to range from clueless to mendacious. It must be quite disheartening to work for TTC, Metrostinx, etc.
Again, thank you for creating a place where a hot-button issue is discussed with a high-signal to noise ration. I particularly like that you will comment on comments if there are errors or to answer questions. It really makes it an interactive experience.
