Some users have encountered a login challenge when attempting to comment on articles here. This does not affect everyone as comments are still being received, and it appears to be a Word Press bug.
More info when it is fixed.

I’ve noted even before the stated present issues that the posting process was often intermittent, and in some cases, posts would just disappear with no trace.
I learned to copy mine before posting so that I had back-up to try posting again.
Steve: All comments are held for moderation by me and they will not automatically appear. In some cases they might trigger a spam filter, and are routed to a separate bucket, but I still see them and can rescue the genuine ones.

It is a WordPress bug, I’ve had to deal with it a long time.

A vaccine for the “Word Press bug” needs to be approved by the Ontario Ministry of Health.
(Couldn’t resist.)

To be clear, I’m fully aware of the ‘vetting’ process, but even when in the process of submitting, no confirmation of receipt was offered, as is the usual case.
That might be due to ad and pop-up blockers. I have different browsers cued for complete protection, others partial, and some with none. Even on the latter, the confirmation page would not show sometimes, and effectively the post would vaporize.
In the event, I see new scripting on the site, and hopefully it will be much less bug prone.
So far anyway, it’s recognizing my status on the site, and not asking to confirm ‘sign-in’ details manually.
Steve: The complete disappearance of some comments is a clue. You have triggered one of the spam filters which are intended to catch people who are trolls or otherwise complete jerks. I won’t explain how these work, but the comments go into a trash bin from which I either restore them or delete them permanently. FWIW my test account is still unable to post comments.

Thanks Steve, and commenters, and WordPress as well as it is a help to have the site and its interactivity.
Though there seems to be a change in what a comment post looks like.
