  1. The Cherry/King/Sumach line is very new but clearly not well designed an/or built as they continue to work on fixes for the squealing at King and Sumach. The latest:

King and Sumach intersection – rail welding maintenance
Starting September 18 for approximately one week nightly

Starting September 18 for approximately one week, TTC will be conducting routine preventative rail maintenance to the streetcar tracks at the intersection of King and Sumach. This work will involve welding rail components and rail joints over a period of a week, weather permitting. Rail welding prolongs the life of rail and provides a smoother streetcar operation through the area. This work does not require the breaking or removal of concrete.
    Work hours
Work at the intersection will be performed overnight between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. when traffic volumes are at their lowest and a safe work zone can be established. The work zone will be cleared of traffic management signs and pylons by 6 a.m. each day. While efforts will be made to keep noise levels to a minimum, some noise will be unavoidable when certain equipment is in operation.

Traffic will be maintained through the King/Sumach intersection with some lane and turning restrictions through the work zone.
